Bobby Yarbrough added a base hit chasing in three runs and Justin Mc Cauley added two RBI for the 'Skins.
Brian Brown, who fell as far back as seventh, restarted third and passed Gravel for the runner-up position, allowing race-long leader Mark Dobmeier to extend his lead. Overall, it an exciting return to the half-mile oval, which last saw true oval-track racing twelve years ago.
Gravel found moisture on the bottom of the speedway, passed Brown back and set his sights on the leader. And while the racing was certainly better this time around, one thing remained the same: the champion.

A first lap incident saw Dominic Scelzi and defending 5-Hour ENERGY Nationals Winner Jason Johnson get together, ultimately ending the latter's evening. Throughout the race, another tough battle was playing out behind the leaders between Pittman and David Gravel, ending in Pittman's favor after several exchanges. More and more cautions followed, and while Wilson and Stewart battled it out up front, Kerry Madsen and Jason Johnson made themselves busy, climbing lap after lap and taking advantage of every restart. He had a strong lead in his Heat when he spun into the wall between Turns 3 and 4, losing a wheel and limping off into the work area while his car was towed. He went on to win the Last Chance Showdown and make the Feature, where he started in the 21 spot. And with only two laps to go, there he was, passing Wilson for second.
"I don't know exactly what happened, I stepped on the throttle and the car got way loose on me," Johnson said following the evening. It's obviously not the position we want to be in, but we're thankful for the way format is now to get to run tomorrow." The melee moved Gravel from his original eighth starting position up a row to sixth. Pittman, who set Quick Time at 13.637 second, was the only one in Victory Lane who even ran the Craftsman Club Dash, which was led by Jason Sides and Paul Mc Mahan. For Stewart it was a different kind of second: his second win in just two nights, and his second race with new crew chief Lee Stauffer.
Gill still hung on for the win with nine strikeouts.
Grant Lewis had three hits including the game winner in the bottom of the seventh frame.
A header off a corner kick by Selena Martinez by Chloe Salman gave the Lady Redskins a tight win at Allegan.
Taylor Underhill had scored earlier for the Reds with an assist by Elena Olivares. The Redskins swept a baseball double header from Otsego with some strong pitching performances.
Gravel Perfect at Knoxville Earns Pole for Saturday's 5-Hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals Finale KNOXVILLE, IA - August 10, 2017 - David Gravel became the seventh different driver, and first in 25 years, in the 57-year history of the 5-Hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals, to complete a perfect score by setting quick time, winning his heat race and winning the feature. Being on the outside I kind of felt like I was hung out to dry a little bit, and Brad [Sweet] got by. I think he started a ways back." Sweet, who walked away with the KSE Hard Charger Award, started in 13 and worked his way into second. "I've got to say sorry to Donny," said Stewart from Victory Lane. I got backed up there a little bit, and I didn't see him go last minute.
